They are rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best. They presently offer an opportunity to join the underwriting team in the Dallas area as a unit manager. This position manages the underwriting of all group accounts to operate in a financially sound and ethical manner to ensure compliance with corporate goals and objectives resulting in the protection of all policyholders.
Group Underwriting Unit Manager Responsibilities:
Responsible for the underwriting profitability of all groups. This includes the preparation of group proposals including rate levels and acceptability of risk and the determination of renewal rates, provisions, and experience refunds of the in-force block of business.
Responsible for the training, or the supervision of training for all underwriting personnel.
Assists in the training of and provides technical assistance to the Sales and Marketing Departments of the company.
Develops and recommends corporate underwriting programs and policies.
Determines the need for, formulates and implements departmental workflow procedures, controls and time standards for effective departmental operations.
Manages all reinsurance activities for all risks; including the maintenance of current and accurate reinsurance treaties and facultative negotiations.
Initiates and supervises special underwriting studies.
Group Underwriting Unit Manager Requirements:
College Degree in Mathematics, Finance or Business.
Around 7 or more years group underwriting experience, including 3 years of life or long term disability experience. 2 years of supervisory experience.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
Completion of industry courses such as FLMI, CLU, HIAA, and CEBS.
