Near Raleigh, NC   Salary range to $150k plus 15% bonus  

Responsible for the overall operation of the claim department  

•             Reserving and reporting for large losses and reinsurance losses, use of Ind. Adj. and Attorneys

•             Provides weekly, monthly and annual summaries of claim statistics to Senior Staff •             Manages 3 direct reports, approves all new hires, promotions, assist in the training of personnel

•             Approves coverage declination and declination letters

•             Approves filing Declaratory Judgment actions

•             Reviews all new losses after initial set up, reserve and action plan by assigned adjuster •             Submits claims to reinsurers on a timely basis

•             Give assistance to Managers and staff adjusters on their files. Extend settlement authority as necessary

•             Develop claim department budget

•             Daily contact with adjusters and/or insureds, claimants, attorneys, vendors, agents and Senior Staff and department managers    

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A four-year degree from an accredited institution. A law degree is a plus. Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing the handling of property and casualty claims. Advanced understanding of Underwriting, Marketing and the General Agency mode of operation, Lloyd’s of London syndicate operations, Reinsurance, Accounting principles and budgeting, general construction methodology and techniques and auto physical damage. Prior  successful claims experience handling complex multi-line (CGL, Auto, Property) claims including advanced skills in coverage, investigation, litigation, negotiation, salvage and subrogation. Experience as a VP or AVP of Claims preferred. Experience in Surplus Lines is required.  Knowledge of the litigation process, issues and procedures. A resident adjuster’s license in North Carolina. A non-resident adjuster’s license where appropriate.
