Accountant or Bookkeeper - Retail Agency - Covina

Agency Accountant is needed for a wonderful team in Covina, CA.

We are looking for an experienced Agency Accountant to join our team. In this position, you will report to the Accounting Manager and work with the Agency Operations Manager, Accounting Manager and agency personnel in all operations of the agency. You will also support the accounting department in other capacities as needed.

Job Description Summary

The Accountant is responsible for specific tasks included in the agency accounting function:

• Reconciling monthly agency and direct bill statements
• Analyze and research billing discrepancies
• Daily lockbox monitoring and applying cash receipts in the agency management system
• Collections process including monitoring aged receivable schedules and researching outstanding receivables. Generate weekly dunning letters.
• Communicate with agency personnel to resolve customer/broker billing issues
• Weekly bank account transfers of premiums, commissions, etc.
• Prepare audit schedules as necessary; Perform special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 2 to 3 years financial accounting experience in an insurance agency
• Proficient in AR, cash and revenue cycle
• Must have good organization skills and be detail oriented
• Organized self-starter that works well in a team environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of The Applied Management system (TAM) is highly desirable
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and ability to learn new software programs
