Job Description

This Business Conduct team is housed within the Encompass Product Operations department. The team primarily operates as business project managers for defects and is also involved with minimizing risk of future defects. The team is a corrective action liaison between Product (Pricing, Underwriting, and Contract) and external departments (Technology, Operations, Legal, etc.).

The Business Conduct Consultant will work on projects that include but are not limited to: defect projects, defect prevention within discretionary projects, and process improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project manager for defects
    • Manage corrective action defect projects from end to end for Product issues (Pricing, Underwriting, and Contract)
    • Investigate proposed defect root causes by logically identifying interrelated items and asking good questions of Technology
    • Analyze samples of identified corrective action policies from a business perspective
    • Collaborate with Product subject matter experts to leverage their expertise in understanding business intent and impact
    • Collaborate with Technology, Operations, Legal, and other areas to leverage their expertise in determining options
    • Think outside the box to offer innovative solutions
    • Translate information from Technology into an understandable and cohesive story for Product
    • Communicate options and recommend a proposed solution to Product senior leaders on a regular basis
    • Manage and prioritize a portfolio of defect projects

  • Minimizing risk of future defects
    • Engage in preventing defects prior to the release of discretionary projects by providing feedback of the requirements and the testing plan
    • Minimize risk by analyzing opportunities for process improvement within Product and potentially cross-functionally
      • Accountable for improved business results by providing enhanced decision-making support and execution excellence
      • Effectively communicate actionable recommendations for change

Job Qualifications

  • Experience: 2 years of related experience; prior insurance industry experience preferred
  • Education: college degree preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate decision-making, problem-solving, and logic skills
  • Intermediate time and project management skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Works effectively in a team environment
