VP Controller (Accounting/Reporting) Job Open

Questpro, a national executive search firm with a focus on the Insurance industry is partnering with one of our best clients (Life/Annuity carrier) to help them find their next VP and Controller.

As the VP and Controller reporting to the CFO you will be responsible for:

Providing strategic direction and leadership over all of General and Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting, including Operations and Internal Controls. Other areas of control will include cash management, investment accounting and vendor management. So these are the areas where you must have experience to be considered: General and Technical Accounting (GAAP, STAT, IFRS), Financial Reporting (Blue Book), Investment Accounting (oversight), establishment and maintenance of Internal Controls.

The VP and Controller will have oversight for all financial reporting and analysis, updates and communications of financial performance, reports to management and Board of Directors, and all information required by the regulatory bodies.

You will ensure our client is compliant with all state and Federal (international) laws and rules/regs.

Be a trusted partner with the Actuarial team to help ensure appropriate reporting of company reserves, DAC, and all related balance sheet accounts.

Will oversee and have responsibility over the investment accounting function.

Oversee and manage vendors.

Analysis of all related pronouncements (SEC, FASB, NAIC, and IASB). Develop strategy for implementation.

Participation on various committees such as: Risk and Compliance, Pricing Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO), etc.

Oversight and development of all internal controls.

Responsibility for the financial systems, process policy and procedure.

Direct contact person for the auditors.

Development and establishment of KPIs and department performance goals.

Staff recruitment, training and development and performance reviews.

Education

BS Accounting, Finance

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

MBA/Masters is a plus

Other relevant experience we are looking for will include:

5+ years of Insurance industry experience. (Life/Annuity preferred), current or recent a must

Working knowledge International Accounting principles (IFRS)

Public Accounting experience is preferred (2+ years)

Strong GAAP knowledge and experience

People and staff leadership (3-5+ years)

Change agent, out of the box thinker who is comfortable with technology

Excellent presentation skills and executive polish and ability to interact at all levels of leadership (B.O.D)

Executive presence, ability to establish credibility at all levels within the organization, both internally and externally

This is a full time position with a top rated and financial strong Life and Annuity carrier. This position will report to the CFO and will require leadership experience. This position will be on site at the home office and remote is not an option. To be considered you must have the experience outlined above.
