Claims Manager


Overview

AmTrust Financial Services is currently seeking a Claims Manager in our Eastern Region. This position requires previous supervisory experience. This position will supervise 6 to 7 Casualty supervisors with each supervisor having a team of 5 to 6 adjusters that handle claims arising from our commercial automobile/physical damage policies. As Claims Manager, part of your supervision responsibilities will include the technical development of the Supervisors and adjusters claim files which includes, coverage, liability investigation, development and evaluation of damages, settlement strategy and litigation management. These claims arise in various jurisdictions throughout the country and, as such, experience and adjusters license in multiple jurisdictions is required. This position will also have personnel administration responsibilities for the supervisors and the teams they supervise. This position will assist the Regional VP of Claims on various special projects as needed.

Assign new claims, projects, and training to unit members based on complexity and skill set of staff;
Oversees the handling of all aspects of the claims assigned to the unit including reserving, communication, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, negotiation and settlement;
Ensures we provide top tier claims handling that conforms to quality, production standards and specifications;
Build efficiency and excellence with best practices, claim processing policies, procedures and department guidelines;
Reviews appeals and complaints that Adjusters or Supervisors are unable to resolve and prepares formal response to consumer complaints;
Analyzes and approves insurance claim payment;
Provides file authority as appropriate to unit staff;
Completes regular quality audits of staffs work, records results and counsels staff to bring work to or above standards;
Prepares regular periodic reports and monitors system reports to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.

Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency;
May recruit, hire and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers and disciplinary action;
Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and salary administration;
Participate in the specialized training and handling of complex claim matters and projects requiring advanced claim knowledge and experience;.
Manages the development and training of subordinates;

Qualifications

Thorough understanding of laws, principles of coverage, liability and insurance industry in general;
Analytical and human relations skills are critical;

Sound command of the English language;
Ability to operate business technology.

Education/Experience
College degree or 10 years equivalent experience and skills required.
Valid adjusters license in appropriate jurisdictions or ability to obtain such, if required by subordinate position duties.
