About the Role
As Vice President, Marine Claims Manager you have an opportunity to join an internationally recognized insurance brokerage as the resident, in-house expert for marine claims. The company is proud to offer such specialized, value added support to clients in the marine industry. This is the only position in the claims team which is singularly supports one type of client. Given all of this, you have a tremendous ability to impact the client’s experience working with their insurance broker as well as the internal dynamic offered to the sales and client management team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the marine division, you work with several of the firm’s senior producers to resolve claims, particularly very involved and complex cases.
- Proactively investigate, negotiate and resolve claims issues
- Ensure claims are analyze for coverage, adjusted and paid properly
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with underwriters and clients
An additional, and quite appealing aspect to the professional development of this role, is the duality in a Client Executive capacity. As a strong claims technician, you approach interaction with clients with a 360 degree approach. Time spent educating, informing and advocating for clients with a risk management philosophy lends more to your role than simply being at a desk waiting for a claim to come through.
Skills & Experience
- At least 7-8 years of multi-line marine claims handling experience to include brown water hull, personal injury, collision liability, Protection & Indemnity, marine liability, and cargo
- Knowledge of CMLs and Bumbershoot policies along with Jones Act cases
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the capacity to deal with diverse customers in a positive manner particularly during negotiations
Compensation
$175k-$200k salary range plus a comprehensive benefits package
