About the Role

As Controller you join a Top 25 national insurance agency to lead the formation of a shared services accounting team. They anticipate the unit growing to 40-50 employees where you’ll directly oversee the performance of accounting analysts and management all client receivables and resolve issues with internal and external clients. Additionally, you’ll have direct interaction with large insurance companies the agency places significant premium.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your strong leadership and analytical skills will give you the tools necessary to lend support and guidance to the Shared Services team, the Client Services team and the entire Finance division.

  • Recruit, train and manage accounting employees
  • Create and maintain departmental procedures & workflows within various agency management systems
  • Ensure all collections are handled effectively and in a timely manner. You make certain postings are complete, accurate and timely.
  • Handle disbursement approvals- authorizing Wires, ACH and checks
  • Handle legal collection and bad debt matters – provide documentation needed, submit requests, keep abreast of the process through resolution
  • Provide Accounts Receivables reporting to local and corporate leadership
  • Manage Premium Finance Programs
  • Manage all Accounts Payables- ensuring that insurance companies are paid in a timely and accurate manner. Resolve discrepancy items and maintain a strong partnership with carriers and internal clients

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance plus at least five (5) years of insurance industry accounting experience
  • Prior management experience of a large staff (40-50 employees)is required
  • Prior experience working with large insurance companies such as Travelers, Hartford and Liberty Mutual

Compensation

$120k-$150k salary target depending on experience
