Executive Casualty Underwriter | Chicago, IL

Insurance Placement Solutions has an immediate opening for an Executive Casualty Underwriter with our client in their Chicago, IL area location. The Executive Casualty Underwriter will profitably grow our client's casualty loss sensitive book of business comprised of Workers Compensation, Auto, and General Liability lines of business. This position works closely with our client's actuarial and sales teams to help identify the best opportunities to pursue. We have a flat organizational structure to embrace responsibility and an efficient decision-making process. This department supports the risk transfer underwriting for the entire country.

Executive Casualty Underwriter Responsibilities

• Underwrite, document and service a book of new and renewal large account loss sensitive casualty business.
• Understand, interpret and consider predictive modeling results as part of the decision-making process.
• Cultivate relationships with our sales executives to evaluate accounts and find creative solutions to profitably grow the book of business.
• Generate and assist with the implementation of ideas for continuous operational improvement.
• Create and build relationships with treaty and facultative reinsurers.

Experience

• 5+ years of national account and/or facultative reinsurance casualty underwriting (Auto, GL, WC).
• Ability to analyze risk across a broad spectrum of industries and clearly present findings.
• Strong problem solving, reasoning and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Understanding of rating methodology and predictive modeling tools.

Education

• Bachelor's degree
• CPCU preferred
