Montana State Fund is the state’s largest workers’ compensation insurance company, protecting approximately 25,000 businesses, organizations, and their workers. Reporting to the Montana State Fund Board of Directors, the President & CEO serves as Chief spokesperson for MSF and provides overall leadership and support to staff in achievement of State Fund Mission, Vision, and demonstration of Guiding Values in support of MSF’s culture.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages the administration of company programs and all business operations of the company including financial stewardship, risk management, industry trends, and issues
  • Oversees the leadership of the executive staff
  • Makes recommendations to the Board regarding strategy
  • Serves as Chief Spokesperson for company; acts as “Customer Care Officer”

Education & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least twelve years progressively responsible leadership experience in the insurance industry with expertise in operational, financial, marketing, underwriting, analytics/actuarial areas (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience must include a minimum of six years of experience at the executive level
  • Excellent communication skills, executive poise and diplomacy, well-polished social, interpersonal, and presentation skills, a positive, motivational/”can-do” outlook, sound business judgment, and willingness/ability to encourage feedback
  • Must be a leader and champion of MSF’s culture

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree
  • Specific background in workers’ compensation operations, budgeting, cost containment, claims services, safety services, underwriting, marketing, analytics/actuarial with strong financial acumen is preferred (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Relevant designations and certifications are also preferred

Compensation, Benefits, & Perks

Base Salary Target: $325,000 to $390,000. Excellent health insurance including dental, vision, life, long-term disability, and more. Flexible spending accounts for dependent care and medical expenses. Public employees’ retirement plan with an 8.97% employer contribution when you contribute 7.9% of pretax income. Optional 457(b) deferred compensation to further increase retirement savings.
