About the Role

Opportunity for an experienced individual life underwriter who has the expertise and confidence to drive and implement new innovative underwriting approaches.

The client is a technology company looking to automate Life underwriting for low limit (less than $1M) life cases without medical exams or APS. This is ideal for a highly experienced and autonomous life underwriter who wants to join an innovative organization after a successful underwriting career at some of the top 10 traditional life insurance carriers in the US and build something unique and challenging.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ability to codify underwriting rules to automate underwriting of applicants without medical exams and without APS
• Write detailed and complete underwriting rules from scratch
• Build decision trees to establish best rate tables / underwriting classes based on answers to detailed questionnaires
• Make recommendations on underwriting policy, methods, and pricing strategy

Skills & Experience

• You must have worked as an INDIVIDUAL Life Insurance underwriter for at least 5 years for one of the top life insurance companies and home offices (no field underwriting candidates please – No group underwriters)
• You must have gained tremendous experience in underwriting a broad range of cases in a high-volume environment with at least $3M of authority
• You must have been involved in writing underwriting manuals or participate in modifications of manuals on a project basis and you must have been viewed as a thought leader by your prior employers whose opinion and ideas are sought after to continuously improve on underwriting excellence

Compensation

$90,000 to $120,000
