Insurance General Counsel

About the Role

California domiciled, private passenger auto liability and physical damage carrier seeks experienced insurance general counsel. This company is on a growth trajectory. This opportunity allows you to be part of their continued expansion. Can be located remote within CA but ideally close to Rancho Cucamonga so trips as needed into the office are reasonable.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide advice to staff on a variety of legal topics that relate to products and/or services
• Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements and regulatory filings as needed
• Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
• Promote legal, compliance, and risk management Best Practice throughout the company
• Communicate with and manage any third-party bodies such as external counsel or auditors

Skills & Experience

• Juris Doctorate degree and currently admitted to practice law with the California State Bar
• Sound understanding and knowledge of commercial and corporate law
• Previous experience in either private practice or insurance industry working with auto claims
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiating, and drafting skills
• The ability to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand
