Job Description

Allstate Investments manages approximately $66 billion of assets. This candidate will assist the Investment Grade, High Yield, and Syndicated Bank Loan analysts with fundamental credit analysis used for making timely investment recommendations in our portfolios and managed Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs). This role is an important part of our investment process and involves supporting analysts who follow designated industries and companies. The candidate will work closely with senior analysts, developing investment themes and providing support for credit analysis and relative value recommendations. There are potential opportunities to support specific bank loan/CLO trading desk initiatives including communication with both internal and external clients. Our process is very team-oriented, with the analysts interacting with each other and the portfolio managers on a continual basis. As such, the ability to work well in a team setting is critical. The ultimate goal of the research and recommendations is to help the portfolios deliver the best possible results for our clients.

This position will report hybrid out of the Allstate Investments downtown office, in Chicago.

Start date: Spring 2023 (Post-Graduation)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior analysts by analyzing and assessing new and existing investments opportunities.
  • Perform company/industry related research, develop and update financial models, review key industry issues and competitors and monitor changes in prices.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers
  • Daily opportunities to learn directly from our senior investment professionals
  • Contribute to the improvement of the overall investment process by continually exploring new ideas, processes and technologies that will benefit the group.

Job Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree from a four-year university and Graduating in Spring 2023
  • A degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or other business-related discipline is preferred but not required
  • Progress towards a CFA designation preferred
  • 0-1+ years of work, internship, and/or related course experience
  • General understanding of capital markets and an intellectual curiosity as it relates to quantitative methods, finance, economics and market cycles
  • Ability to perform tasks and achieve results independently and as part of a team, consistently meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple assignments effectively in a dynamic work environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across a wide variety of constituents
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products and experience with Bloomberg preferred

Compensation offered for this role is between $70,000 and $103,750and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
