ABOUT THE ROLE
Boutique insurance brokerage operation that has dedicated their entire practice to one of our nation’s most important industries, trucking. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join their team.
The Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the brokerage's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting functions. This role requires a thorough understanding of insurance industry accounting practices.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting functions.
Reconcile accounts, ensuring the accuracy of financial data and compliance.
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
Handle premium accounting processes, including premium trust account management, client invoicing, and reconciliation of premiums and commissions.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within an insurance agency or brokerage environment.
Strong understanding of insurance industry-specific accounting practices, particularly in managing trucking accounts.
Proficiency with Applied EPIC is mandatory.
Experience with premium accounting and trust account management.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
